1. Where is the Belleville Sports Hall of Fame?

The Belleville Sports Hall of Fame is located on the upper level of the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre, above the east side entrance, in the Dr. Robert L. Vaughan Atrium.

2. Is there a BSHoF Committee?

Yes, there is a BSHoF Committee, consisting of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Past President, along with a number of Committee Members at Large.

3. Who can be nominated for induction to the BSHoF?

The Belleville Sports Hall of Fame recognizes individuals and teams who, by outstanding achievement, have attained prominence in any field of sport, or who have made a major contribution to the development and advancement of sport, or who have brought honour to Belleville and area and are eligible for election to the Belleville Sports Hall of Fame.
There are three classifications of inductees:

1) Player/Athlete 2) Builder
3) Team

4. Who can qualify as an eligible nominee to the BSHoF?

To be an eligible nominee, an individual does not need to have been born in Belleville but must have been a resident of the City of Belleville, Hastings or Prince Edward Counties for a minimum of five (5) years, not necessarily continuously.
Athlete candidates must have concluded their careers as active players for a minimum of five (5) years, though the Selection Committee may reduce the waiting period for reasons of outstanding performance, skill and special circumstances.

An athlete who has reached his or her fiftieth birthday will be eligible for nomination. This recognizes the fact that many outstanding athletes continue to compete in various sports long after their peak competitive years.
Builder candidates may be either active or inactive at the time of their nomination.. Members of the Selection Committee are not eligible for election to the BSHoF.


5. How does the nomination process work? Is a nominee automatically inducted to the BSHoF?

No, a nominee is not automatically inducted.
Nominations can be submitted to the BSHoF Committee at any time during the year, using the nomination page on the BSHoF website.
The cut off date for nominations for each year's induction class is May 25th.
All eligible nominations submitted shall be considered in the year received and the four (4) succeeding years.
Nominees not elected to the Hall, after being considered for five (5) consecutive years, may be re-nominated.

6. Can athletes be nominated for induction to the BSHoF more than once?

An athlete or builder can be nominated as an individual or as part of a team nomination. Should a person be included in a Team Induction, they shall not be eligible for Personal Induction until a period of one (1) year has elapsed.

7. How does a nominee get inducted to the BSHoF?

The Selection Committee reviews all eligible nominations, from which are chosen those nominees to be inducted.

8. When do inductions to the BSHoF take place?

Induction ceremonies typically take place each year in September on a date chosen by the Executive Committee of the BSHoF.

9. How is the BSHoF funded?

The BSHoF requests and receives a yearly grant from the City of Belleville, as well as monetary donations from members of the general public. Monetary donations can be made by various means.

10. How much are the BSHoF Committee members paid?

All members of the BSHoF Committee are volunteers, working together to give recognition to the achievements of eligible individuals and teams who have attained distinction in any sport, and to those who have made a major contribution to the development and advancement of sport in Belleville and area.
